RULES & SUBMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
All entries must deal with Jewish themes

Choose one of the following 3 categories:

* Creative Writing
* True Story (Personal or Family)
* Poetry

This contest is for Jewish Middle School
students (Grade 6-8)

Length:
* Essays: between 500-1000 words
* Poetry: any length

Double-spaced

Submission requirements:
Every entry should include:

* Student's name
* Title of entry
* Category (See above)
* School name
* City/State
* Teacher's full name
* Teacher's Email address

Every entry must be e-mailed to:

Only one entry per student

Submit entries by: April 16, 2012
Winners announced by: May 16, 2012

Highlights 2011

SS St. Louis

Mrs. Andrea Friedman's
8th grade class from
Kellman Brown Academy
in Voorhees, NJ created a
book of poetry on the
events surrounding the fate
of the SS St. Louis during
WWII.  Its cover included
original artwork by 8th grader,
Lior Algrably, which is now
shown in our newly created
Art Gallery.


The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory
Fire

Allen Gottlieb's students from the
Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy
in Bryn Mawr, PA  submitted a
variety of essays and poems on
the tragic events of The Triangle
Shirtwaist Fire of 1911.  This
event served as a watershed for
new laws on working conditions,
and building
codes.

open for submission from Jewish
Middle School Students.

The galleries are not currently part
of the contest, and are meant to
showcase student talent.  Inclusion
in the Galleries is subject to
selection by our committee.

Requirements:
Art: Must be scanned and sent via
email.
Videos: Must be less than 5
minutes in length.  Send us a link.
