Awaiting the Redemption

As she covers her eyes
On that Friday night
And the candles glisten and burn
She yearns of that time
A long time ago
When the Beis Hamikdash still stood

She has sweet little children
A wonderful husband
Yet her life is not complete
Just one perfect shabbos
Without any sins
And klall Yisrael will have achieved that amazing feat

She dreams of the time of the redemption
Where there will no longer be any tension
Between family and friends
Women and men
Amalek will have been destroyed
And in the kingship of David there will be no void

The Beis Hamikdash will stand there beautiful and sparkling
The Kohanim will do their work and the Leveim will sing
Oh what joy that will bring
We will light the menorah
And bring sacrifices on the altar
In the mitzvos of Hashem we will not falter

All the mitzvos that will not appear
Until Mashiach comes near
We will then be able to do
In the holy land of Israel
When we hear the great shofar that’s our cue

Upon the wings of the eagle
We will soar high in the air
All we need for this to happen is our prayer
We know it will happen one day but when?
All we can do is pray for it again and again

By now her children have come to watch
Their usually composed mother so distressed
As the tears leak from her eyes
She does not try to disguise
The way she is feeling at the moment

For her children are young
And they do not know
But she will teach them and show
That there is a life better than this one
That tefilah is the key to a life of peace and serenity

And once the Mashiach comes
We will finally see
Moshe Rabenu who split the sea
And Yaakov Avinu who sat in his tent
Learning torah all day though he was still content

But for this to happen is a hard thing to do
She wants it not only for herself but also for you
Do not be influenced by the ways of the non- Jews
Guard the torah and don’t just look at it but do
Follow its laws and be a good Jew

We will go to the Promised Land
It will definitely be grand
The Shchinah will be there among us
There will be a smile on every face
For the nation of Yisrael there is no better place

We will all be united as one
In the land flowing with milk and honey
No longer will our main concern be money
The whole world will know Hashem is the only one
Hashem echud ushimo echud

We will gather round the steps of the Beis Hamikdash
And we will sing praise and thanks to Hashem
Women, children, teenagers, and men
For this we have waited many years
We have cried many cries
And shed many tears

From the tears she has cried
On that Friday night
It will penetrate the heavens
Open the gates
And the time of Mashiach we will no longer await
